Petroleum is largely composed of greys, with touches of blue mixed in. It has the qualities of grey – formality and neutrality – and the serene, reliable qualities of blue. Petroleum goes great as an accent colour with light to middle shades of grey, but also with dusty brown or cool red or yellow. This colour is more muted than other versions of blue, providing a more authentic look.
